occasionally, a group of us 'spiritually weaklings' have gotten together and gone out dancing to a large city close by. We love to dance. It's quite a good time.

Friday nights are special in my house. As firm a JW as my hubby is, still on Friday evenings we manage to have a couple of drinks either alone or with other 'friends'. We play games, dance, talk, laugh. Or sometimes just go out to eat and rent a couple of movies to watch at home.
Many times on Friday nights we go out to eat some place, then come back home to have a drink or two. All done in good taste and moderately.
Love those Friday nights!!!

a letter that was just passed on to me by e-mail.
it's important to follow the elder's directions:.
hi don,.
Hey, at least they're helping some people!
Any help, however little, is afterall help and better than nothing.

What's going on?! You're starting to worry me. What's going through your mind?!

I could see this happening.
The WBTS is outstanding when it comes to gathering its interests, be it people or real estate.
No doubt in my mind that JWs will do very well during these times of distress while others will struggle horribly through it.
JWs, specially the ones in 'good standing' do extremelly well during tough times. They stick together like glue!

the october 1, 2005 watchtower slams higher education in a 5 page analysis on why it is better to pioneer than go to college.
i recieved this wt today and i was shocked by the statements in there.
i can fax a copy to anyone who wants it.
The being pro-college is one of the things that has me in the 'spiritually weakling' list.
I have a college education and this has helped me tremendously. I'm very voiceful about encouraging parents to save up for their children's future college education, and for them to encourage their children to at least attend 2 years at their community college.
This above-mentioned activity sure has gotten me in the 'border-line apostate' list.

am i the only one here who has non-jw and jw siblings who exclude you from "family" social events, but see nothing wrong with asking you to contribute a significant amount of money toward gifts for jw parents who instigate your exclusion from family social events?.
quite frankly, i'm pissed off about this most recent request and i'm planning on ignoring it.
why should i give $200 of my hard earned wages to people who won't permit me in their home or speak to me?
The next time you're asked for $$$, don't and give your reasons so that you don't get asked again.

i got a message on my machine from some lady.
she says "hi.. this is ' ' i was just calling to see how you are doing.
i go to ' local congo'.
most of the witnesses i know that have graduated high school in the congregation, have had a graduation party organized for them by the congregation.. however, i have yet to see anyone who graduated college get the same treatment.. .
recently, we had two college students graduate in june.
one elder who was asked to attend their graduation party refused the invite.. .
The congregation I attend organizes a graduation party each year, right around June. If college graduates want to be included, they certainly are.
I've been to a couple of parties where college and tech/trades school graduates were announced. No big deal these days.
The WBTS has realized that in order to make it economically these days a person needs at least an Associate's Degree, if only from some community college.

i just heard through some ex-witnesses that it is no longer okay for witnesses to celebrate wedding anniversaries.
i was very surprised to hear this.
i am sure it has been discussed here but i cannot find anything on the matter.
I haven't heard this at all.
But if it's true... DARN!!! One less celebration!
I'm so very close to leaving this joy-less organization! Can't hardly wait!
